Laura and Phil were a full service client and their Colorado sand dunes wedding was so much fun to plan! Their unique story starts with their proposal. Here is how Laura describes it:
“We found the ring at a vintage craft market we were exploring while visiting one of my friends in San Diego. Before he dropped me off at the airport that night we were killing time on the boardwalk. He said "wanna try on that thing you got?" After a few minutes of wearing it I said "ok, just 10 more seconds of cheating" but he replied "No, I don't want you to ever take it off." That's when he got down on BOTH knees. Lol.”
For their wedding, they combined their hobbies of exploring towns they haven’t seen and riding on Phil’s motorcycle. Their wedding took place near Great Sands National Park at The Barn at La Manzanilla. Phil loved his bike and wanted to go for "wind therapy" the morning of the wedding. They described their love story as lace and leather so that became our founding design focus with pops of colors.
Their ceremony and reception included meaningful cultural elements. Phil is from the Lakota Tribe and when there was a Lakota quilt hanging in the barn when they first toured the venue, they felt like it was fate since that is not the prominent tribe in the area. They then booked the venue! During the ceremony they had a Smudging Ceremony, or sage burning, which is a ceremony practiced by some Indigenous groups. For the reception, to honor another Lakota Tradition, there was a spirit plate at every meal to honor people who were not there.
For their florals, the couple went with all dried or faux florals which turned out beautifully! They were full of color and brought even more beauty to this destination wedding. As if all of these unique elements weren’t enough fun, the couple took a hot air balloon ride and actually signed their marriage license in the hot air balloon! Talk about something to remember! The photos are stunning and we love this sweet memory for them.
During the reception, guests got drinks from Tiny Bar Mobile Bar, had tacos for dinner (Phil’s favorite!) and pies for dessert. Everyone danced the night away and had the best time celebrating Laura and Phil at their Colorado sand dunes wedding!
"We had a few tough asks for our wedding, including a Hot Air Balloon ride to sign the marriage certificate, not to mention it was all within a short engagement period. Stacie pulled it off with a smile. I credit Stacie with allowing my mother to actually lean back and enjoy the wedding, and with the lack of fights I had with my fiancé, lol. She's kind, professional, calm, and organized. All the best attributes of a coordinator. I hope she's still doing this when our babies are grown and looking to get hitched."- Laura
