Your Marriage License Questions Answered

Let’s make this thing official: When do you need to start this? Where? What will you need? We answer all of that below.
What will you need:
● Valid U.S issued photo of identification
● Must know both parties social security
● If either party was divorced/dissolved or widowed. They will need date, county, and state information.
● Both parties must be present
Here is the fun part: 30 days before the wedding you will need to complete the online portion.

Marriage Application
Once you have done this, the next step is to pick it up!
Call or Google your County Clerk and Recorded office. Go online to Marriage License to make an appt.

How exciting, your appointment day is here! get to your appointment! Bring the following items.
● Order Number ( SST #)
● $30 cash
● Valid U.S. identification

Congratulations!
● After you pick it up you have 35 days from the date issued to get married anywhere in the state of CO.
○ Who Can Officiate a Marriage?:
■ Judge
■ Court Magistrate
■ Parties to the Marriage
■ Other public officials authorized to perform marriages in accordance with any mode or solemnization recognized by a religious denomination or Indian tribe or nation. If you choose to perform your own ceremony, you must complete the lower portion of the marriage license and sign as officiating party as well as
parties to the marriage. The type of ceremony and words exchanged (if any) are your choice.
Witnesses are not required.
The completed marriage license/certificate must be returned to the Clerk and Recorder's office for recording. Your marriage is not on record with the county until it is recorded.” Check out this fun witness

Destination wedding?
No problem, we’ve got you covered! We often work in Boulder, Larimer, Weld, or Grand County! Follow the steps above. You will need to pick up a marriage license in the state your ceremony is in (not the county).
Planner tip: Make sure your planner has a photogenic place ready for you to sign and a pen! (We always provide our couples with a great spot to do this!) with their signature drinks and some appetizers. The perfect paperwork moment!
