Riverside Wedding with Pops of Color, Lyons CO

Dreamy dancing by the river, beautiful details, and an honorary guest, Mika & Justin’s wedding day was everything! Riverbend In Lyons made the most beautiful spot to get married. Rushing water & sun through the trees made this a beautiful day.

Pre-Ceremony Delights

The festivities after hair and makeup began with a first look with the bride and her bridesmaids. This is such a fun idea, we love to see how happy and excited your closest friends are when they get to see you in the dress. What we love about this idea is that you can still get all the hair and makeup done together, just save the dress for the surprise, and make sure to let your planner and photographer know so we can help coordinate! And the dress did not disappoint, even all of the vendors couldn’t stop talking about how gorgeous it was! The detachable sleeves to change up looks throughout the day is genius! After her first look was the couple’s first look, absolutely amazing! Except for this first look a special guest was in attendance, the couple’s dog! Dressed well for the occasion this special guest was able to spend the day with his parents as they tied the knot! It was so special for them to have him there and with them on this day. He was even present throughout the whole wedding planning, coming to the walkthrough and rehearsal.

Elegant Decor Choices

For decor the couple chose a beautiful lilac/ lavender color for their table runners & napkins, it was a beautiful addition to the natural landscape. For florals they kept it minimal with stem bud vases on the dinner & welcome tables. For the ceremony The Joyful Poppy created floral mason jars that could be hung on the chairs of the aisle. They were beautiful and we repurposed them on the sweetheart table for dinner. My favorite floral piece is a genius creation by The Joyful Poppy. The groom's suit florals act like a pocket square and slide perfectly into the pocket. This is a genius idea, and completely recreates the dreaded boutonniere that can be so difficult for groomsmen to pin! It’s also stunning and like a mini version of the florals for the groom!

Remembering Loved Ones

Both the groom and bride had lost a dear parent in their life, they found the most beautiful ways to honor them and include them in the day. For the groom a pin on in suit with a photo and for the bride a pendant photo around the stems of her bouquet that she later used as a bracelet. A special candle lighting ceremony took place to honor them both, lighting two candles, placed in the front row of the crowd. It can be so difficult to not have someone so special with you on your big day, but there are so many beautiful ways to feel them with you. Have a conversation with your planner about different ideas and moments we can plan in to make it so special.

Heartfelt Ceremony and Culinary Delights

It was a beautiful ceremony with an amazing and supportive wedding party present! A beautiful draped fabric arch hung from the trees made a beautiful backdrop to their heart touching ceremony. GB Culinary created the most beautiful assortment of appetizers, entrees and desserts throughout the day. A unique thing about this wedding was it was completely alcohol free! Some of you might be thinking how do you have a wedding without alcohol? You definitely can, and this was executed perfectly! The couple and GB Culinary designed signature mocktails for guests in replacement, and they were delicious! Guests loved it, and it didn’t keep their guests from dancing the night away and having so much fun!

Sunset Serenity and Sweet Endings

During sunset the couple snuck away to a nearby hilltop to get some beautiful scenery photos and have a moment to themselves. They also got some photos with the groom's 4 runner that his sister had decorated! We ended the night with a choreographed first dance by the river, instrumental music & most loved of the day, a smores bar!
